AMFI ARN Registration: ARN Code, EUIN, Fees and Renewal (2026)
AMFI ARN registration: what an ARN code and EUIN are, who needs them, Rs 3,000 fee, online KYD steps, AMC empanelment, renewal rules and ARN check.
AMFI ARN registration gives you an ARN (AMFI Registration Number), the code every mutual fund distributor in India needs before earning commission. To get one as an individual, you must be 18 or older, hold a valid NISM Series V-A certificate, PAN and Aadhaar, apply online on AMFI's website, complete paperless KYD through CAMS, and pay ₹3,000 plus 18% GST (AMFI fee structure, effective 1 October 2024). Individual distributors get an EUIN automatically with the ARN. Haven't passed the exam yet? Start with our NISM Series V-A exam guide.
Below are the 6 steps to get your ARN, the full fee table, how EUIN works, renewal and expiry rules, and what changed for distributors in 2025 and 2026. Where a detail is not confirmed by AMFI, we say so plainly.

ARN eligibility, process and fees are from AMFI's distributor registration pages and fee structure (AMFI, retrieved 2026-10-28).
How this guide is ordered: the steps follow the real sequence, from passing the exam to selling your first scheme, followed by fees, EUIN, renewal and recent changes.
1. Pass NISM Series V-A
Required: a valid NISM V-A certificate | Exam: 100 questions, 50% to pass | Fee: ₹1,500
You cannot apply for an ARN without a valid NISM Series V-A certificate (or the NISM CPE route for renewals). The exam has 100 questions in 120 minutes with a 50% pass mark and no negative marking (NISM, retrieved 2026-10-28). The guide linked above covers the syllabus, registration and practice questions.
2. Keep Your Documents Ready
Individual: PAN, Aadhaar linked to mobile, NISM certificate, bank details, photo | Entity: registration documents and a certified employee with EUIN
For individuals, the core documents are your PAN, Aadhaar (with your mobile number linked for OTP), the NISM V-A certificate, bank account details for commission, and a photo. A non-individual distributor, such as a firm or company, needs at least one NISM-certified employee with a valid EUIN mapped to its ARN (AMFI, retrieved 2026-10-28).
3. Apply Online on AMFI's Website
Where: AMFI website, distributor section, "Online Registration" | Mode: online only | Time: about 30 minutes
You apply on AMFI's website under the distributor section using the online registration option (AMFI, retrieved 2026-10-28).
How to apply:
- Open AMFI's website and go to the distributor section.
- Choose online registration for a new ARN.
- Enter your PAN, NISM certificate details and personal information.
- Upload documents as asked and submit.
4. Complete KYD (Know Your Distributor)
What: identity verification of the distributor | How: paperless Aadhaar authentication through CAMS | Change: physical biometric KYD ended on 1 October 2024
KYD is AMFI's version of KYC for distributors; if you are new to the term, read what KYC means. It is now completed through paperless Aadhaar authentication handled by CAMS, AMFI's registration agency. Physical biometric verification at CAMS centres was stopped from 1 October 2024 (AMFI circular CIR/ARN-27/2023-24, 17 September 2024).
5. Pay the Registration Fee
Individual: ₹3,000 + 18% GST | Employee EUIN: ₹1,500 + GST | Firms and companies: higher, see table below
Pay the fee online to complete your application. The current fee structure, effective 1 October 2024, is below (AMFI ARN and EUIN fee structure, 1 October 2024).
| Distributor category | New registration | Renewal |
|---|---|---|
| Individual or sole proprietorship | ₹3,000 | ₹1,500 |
| Employee EUIN | ₹1,500 | ₹750 |
| Post office or microfinance institution | ₹15,000 | ₹7,500 |
| Partnership firm | ₹20,000 | ₹10,000 |
| Private limited company, OPC or LLP | ₹40,000 | ₹20,000 |
| Bank or public limited company | ₹4,00,000 | ₹2,00,000 |
All fees are plus 18% GST. An older 2021 fee schedule had a lower senior-citizen fee, but the current schedule does not show any concession.

6. Get Empanelled With Mutual Fund Houses
What: register your ARN with each AMC you want to sell | Why: without it, business goes into the Direct Plan | Source: AMFI circular, 4 May 2023
An ARN alone is not enough to earn. You must get empanelled with each asset management company (AMC) whose schemes you want to distribute. Business booked under an ARN that is not empanelled with that AMC goes into the Direct Plan, so you earn no commission on it (AMFI circular, 4 May 2023).
How to get empanelled:
- Visit each AMC's distributor or partner page.
- Submit your ARN details and the empanelment form.
- Wait for confirmation before sending investor applications.
What Is an EUIN and Who Needs It?
An EUIN (Employee Unique Identification Number) identifies the individual who actually advises or sells to the investor. Individual distributors get an EUIN automatically with their ARN at no extra cost. Employees of distributor firms need their own EUIN, mapped to the firm's ARN (AMFI, retrieved 2026-10-28).
| Point | ARN | EUIN |
|---|---|---|
| Identifies | The distributor (person or firm) | The person who sells |
| Who gets it | Individuals and entities | Individual distributors and employees of firms |
| Fee | ₹3,000 + GST for individuals | Free with an individual ARN; ₹1,500 + GST for employees |
| Changes with job? | No | No; an employee keeps the same EUIN, moved with a form and relieving letter |
If a transaction has a missing or invalid EUIN and it is not corrected within 30 days, the commission on that transaction is forfeited (AMFI, retrieved 2026-10-28).
ARN code vs EUIN on an application
Every mutual fund application you submit should carry your ARN and your EUIN. Investors can also choose to invest without advice, but your codes must be correct for you to be paid.
ARN Renewal: Validity, Expiry and Rules
Your ARN is valid for 3 years, in line with your NISM certificate. You can renew it online up to 6 months before expiry, but only after you renew your NISM certification through the CPE programme or by re-taking the exam (AMFI Master Circular for MFDs, January 2026).
What happens if your ARN expires (AMFI Master Circular for MFDs, January 2026):
- The ARN becomes invalid from the day after expiry.
- You cannot sell, and new business goes into the Direct Plan.
- Trail commission is withheld.
- If you renew within 3 months, withheld trail is released.
- If you renew after 3 months, the withheld trail is forfeited.

ARN renewal steps
- Renew your NISM V-A certificate through CPE or the exam.
- Log in to AMFI's distributor portal within 6 months of expiry.
- Apply for renewal and pay ₹1,500 + GST (individuals).
- Confirm that your renewed ARN appears on AMFI's distributor search.
How to Check or Verify an ARN
Investors and distributors can check any ARN on AMFI's "Locate a Mutual Fund Distributor" search, by name, ARN or location. AMFI also publishes lists of invalid, suspended and terminated ARNs (AMFI, retrieved 2026-10-28). Investors should check that a distributor's ARN is valid before investing through them.
What Changed for Mutual Fund Distributors in 2025 and 2026?
| Date | Change |
|---|---|
| 2 April 2025 | AMFI circular on ARN renewal time limits and commission on lapsed ARNs |
| 30 July 2025 | AMFI set up SIF (Specialised Investment Fund) registration for distributors |
| 1 March 2026 | SEBI's extra incentive for bringing in new investors from beyond the top 30 cities or new women investors took effect, as reported |
| 1 April 2026 | SEBI's new expense framework under the Mutual Funds Regulations, 2026 replaced the old all-in TER with a base expense ratio, as reported |
| 22 July 2026 | NISM Series V-D exam for MF and SIF distributors went live, with combined MF and SIF registration |
Details for 2026 changes are based on AMFI and NISM notices and published reports; check the original circulars on AMFI's and SEBI's websites before relying on them.
Important Tips for New Distributors
- Renew on time: a lapsed ARN can cost you trail commission permanently.
- Get empanelled first: applications under a non-empanelled ARN earn nothing.
- Check codes on every form: a wrong EUIN for over 30 days forfeits commission.
- Never promise returns: mutual fund investments carry market risk.
- Keep your NISM certificate valid: ARN renewal depends on it.
